Editorial policy
Silver Chronicle aims to make its writing clear, careful and independent. We distinguish observation from interpretation, check claims against dependable material, and state uncertainty where the evidence does not support a firm conclusion.
Accuracy and corrections
Editors review articles for clear wording, sound context and claims that can be supported. Silver marks and object histories can be complicated; we avoid treating a single visual clue as conclusive. If an error is brought to our attention, we assess it and correct the article when warranted, making significant changes clear to readers.
Independence and partnerships
Editorial decisions are made for readers, not as a condition of a partnership. Any paid, gifted or partner-supported material is labelled plainly near the relevant content. Commercial relationships do not buy favourable editorial coverage, and partner placements are kept distinct from independent articles.
Images and illustrations
Images are chosen to support the subject and not to imply evidence that is absent from the text. Some illustrations may be generated with artificial intelligence; where this is the case, they are identified as illustrations and are not presented as documentary photographs of a particular object.
